Description
Hybrid, Part time position 2.5 days/week
London-based with flexibility
Location: London (Hybrid role with office and remote work)
We’re looking for a seasoned and proactive PR Manager to champion media relations for our leading brands in active and adventure travel: World Expeditions, UTracks, PHSV (Packhorse & Sherpa Van) and Walkers’ Britain & Europe.
This UK-based role is ideal for someone already immersed in the adventure travel media landscape, someone who is well-connected, respected and understands how to pitch a good story, and better yet, how to tailor it to different audiences across print and digital. We’re open to hearing from candidates looking for either a freelance contract or a part-time employed position, depending on what suits you best.
Your Focus:
You’ll be the go-to PR contact for the UK and European media (and in the case of Walkers’ Britain & Europe and PHSV the North American media), managing all aspects of press communications across our brands. Working closely with our global HQ in Australia, you’ll help ensure each brand is represented with the right tone, while building strong local connections that translate into meaningful media coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and distribute compelling, brand-aligned press releases and story angles across World Expeditions, UTracks, PHSV and Walkers’ Britain & Europe
- Build and nurture media relationships across travel, lifestyle, outdoor, and adventure sectors, in the UK and internationally where relevant
- Secure targeted coverage through proactive outreach and tailored pitches
- Manage and coordinate media familiarisation trips and press travel
- Respond to media queries with professionalism and brand accuracy
- Liaise with the UK team as well as Australian HQ and international marketing teams on brand developments, new product releases, and emerging story opportunities
- Monitor, collate and report on media coverage
- Ensure tone and messaging aligns with each brand’s identity, adjusting style appropriately for each media piece or campaign
- Represent the brands independently with initiative, insight and strategic thinking
About You:
- A strong network of UK travel and lifestyle media contacts, ideally also known in the global walking/adventure media space
- Demonstrated experience in travel, lifestyle or adventure PR, preferably in both B2C and B2B
- A clear understanding of how to adapt messaging and tone across different brands
- Confident, independent and self-driven, with the ability to work autonomously and manage priorities
- Experience managing press trips, with a flair for organisation and storytelling
- Comfortable reporting on PR metrics and media outcomes
- Passionate about adventure, active travel (hiking/cycling), and sustainable tourism
- Available two and a half days per week
What We Offer:
- The opportunity to represent globally respected active travel brands
- Flexible, part-time arrangement (2.5 days/week) – freelance or employed
- Hybrid working (remotely and from our central London office)
- Autonomy to shape PR strategy and drive results
- Collaborative support from an experienced and passionate global team
This is a rare opportunity to shape media conversations around some of the most exciting adventures on the planet: from classic treks and off-the-beaten-path walks to cycling journeys and cultural explorations across the world.
