THE COMPANY

Back Track Adventures, founded in 1984, is a Brisbane-based Tour Operator, specialising in overseas trekking adventures and African Safaris. The team at Back Track Adventures are passionate about travel – and taking our clients on great adventures around the world. We are acknowledged within the Adventure Travel Industry as a leader in Adventure Holidays.

 

LOCATION

The position is based in our office in Fortitude Valley, a suburb on Brisbane’s city fringe

 

SALARY

Attractive salary package is offered.  Negotiable and dependent on experience.

 

DUTIES

Client liaison

Ensuring quality control of all products and equipment

Brochure and website preparation and updating

Preparation of risk assessments and emergency procedures

Management of documentation

Trek financial costing

Trek leading

Recruitment, training and briefing of trek leaders

Managing local ground crews

Oversee equipment requirements

Liaise with overseas service providers

Developing itineraries

Review client medical and fitness documents

Review client feedback

After hours sales presentations

24-hour emergency contact duties

Airport meet and greets

Attend and conduct regular team meetings

Liaise with senior management on areas of your responsibility

 

REPORTS TO

Tours Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Essential

Overseas trekking experience

Sound level of physical fitness

Competent in using Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Good written and verbal communication skills

Good with numbers

Strong administration skills

Able to travel overseas at short notice

Desirable

Current or previous experience in the travel industry

Tour planning experience

Trekking experience including the Kokoda Track, Kilimanjaro and Nepal

Prior experience as a trek leader/tour escort

Current wilderness first aid qualifications

 

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

Enthusiasm for the outdoors

A positive attitude and a willingness to work hard

A flexible approach to working outside regular business hours

Able to remain calm under pressure

Enthusiasm for the guidelines of responsible travel
