Adventure Expeditions is a well-respected not-for-profit organisation providing a variety of outdoor activity programmes, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and residentials in the UK and overseas. We are seeking to employ a likeminded, well qualified and experienced instructor to take a lead role in the operational management of these programmes.
Primary responsibilities will be to oversee or directly undertake the jobs required to manage the delivery aspects of operations, including staffing management, logistics oversight, programme/route planning, instructor communication and liaison. This person will closely with our full-time office staff team to ensure that clients are well served and key jobs are completed on time. As Operations Manager you will ensure high quality authentic adventure is delivered with the highest standards of risk management while meeting the needs and aims of clients. As Chief Instructor you will need to be able to role model, train and induct staff and advise on best practice and internal operating procedures. You will also take the lead on updating and communicating policies and procedures to the core staff team and freelance staff. The role includes some direct work on programmes outside of management responsibilities, quality assurance and out-of-hours duty management in rotation with other instructional staff.
Opportunities for delivering occasional other work are available if a candidate is interested in, for example, Winter climbing/mountaineering, rock climbing or NBG delivery through our training arm, sister company Adventure Expertise. EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Essential - Management experience, 1st Aid, DBS, ML Summer, RCI, full and clean UK driving licence, good planning, communication and IT skills, DofE experience, office admin experience and a professional, friendly manner. Desirable – MCI or WMCI / IML / Winter ML / Mountain biking / Water qualifications / Forest School Practitioner qualification / Management qualifications.
PAY: £27,000 - £34,000 Full-time contract. Pay dependent on qualifications/experience. Variable working pattern (potential flexibility to suit the individual and seasonal business requirements), pro rata holidays and annual Christmas break included on top of regular holiday allowance. Base of work is Hathersage, Peak District although applicants must be willing to travel if needed.
