Partner Schools Worldwide (PSW) specialises in facilitating long term sustainable and ethical partnerships with organisations across the world. These genuine partnerships engage students, teachers and development professionals generating reciprocal educational value and mutual respect. These visits provide the opportunity for students and teachers to work (and play!) together in a live environment with their peers from their partner school. Real life collaboration across a host of fun educational, cultural and sporting workshops as well as exciting community or conservation project work enables students from each country to gain a real understanding of each other’s perspectives and develop mutual respect as well as an appreciation of their own cultural heritage.

Role

As the organisation is moving into a new and exciting stage of growth, we are looking for a Fundraising Intern to research and develop multiple revenue streams to support for our newest programme: the creation of a stand alone development non-profit, Akwaaba Ghana, as well as support our Ghanaian Finance Manager. You will be based in Ghana working within our multicultural team at a crucial stage of programme development.

Key responsibilities include

Day to day

  • Support Programme Manager’s delivery of PSW’s flagship Partnership Programmes.

  • Support Operations Manager’s delivery of PSW school trips.

  • Work with the Finance Manager to ensure all financial targets met.

  • Manage activities of Fundraising, Communications and Partnership Interns.

  • Regularly update PSW UK Director on progress of KPIs.

  • Management of all office, accommodation and storage buildings.

  • Represent PSW at all project handover ceremonies and networking events.

Akwaaba Ghana programme

  • Design and develop operational procedures of Akwaaba Ghana

  • Identify key funding opportunities for Akwaaba Ghana and work with Fundraising Intern to produce bids.

  • Facilitate the transfer of PSW Sustainable Development Goal Programme material to Akwaaba Ghana.

  • Facilitate the transfer of PSW’s Partnership Programme to Akwaaba Ghana.

Personal Qualities

  • A least an undergraduate qualification to a first class standard in international development, management studies or a related field.

  • Relevant experience in project/programme management and capacity development.

  • strategic planning/thinking and budget development/management.

  • Proven involvement in funding applications, ideally with successful acquisition.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Personable with the ability to assimilate into differing cultures often presenting challenging situations.

  • Experience working in Ghana or a similar sub-Saharan country in a development context.

  • Proficient in use of PC/Mac hardware, MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Zoho).

Particulars

Position: Country Manager

Location: Elmina, Ghana

Salary: £8,000-£14,000 depending on experience (in-country weighting applied), accommodation & return flights

Contract: 2 year FT.
