Inspire Worldwide specialise in setting up sustainable links between UK organisations and charity partners in Africa and Asia. We are looking for an assistant leader who is available to travel to Malawi from the 4th - 21st July 2018.
What do we look for in our assistant leaders?
You will have spent at least 6 weeks working, volunteering, or travelling in sub-Saharan Africa, and ideally have spent some time in Malawi. You'll also have experience in working on sustainable development projects, and have great knowledge of how to facilitate meaningful two-way cultural exchange. Living in basic conditions won't be an issue for you, and managing a team of young people in a residential setting is something you have plenty of experience of.
You will spend your time on the site, managing the health and safety of the team as well as the logistics of running a project - alongside the leader of course. Evenings are spent with the team, eating dinner, swapping stories, and hearing about what they've learnt that day. These trips are wonderful experiences for all involved!
This is a paid position and as such we are looking for professional individuals with real passion for cultural exchange within a community development context. Send your CV and cover letter outlining how you fulfil our criteria to [email protected]
We will require a copy of a DBS certificate from the last 3 years or will carry one out for you. We also require all our leaders and assistant leaders to obtain a 16-hour outdoor specific first aid course before working on any of our trips.
We look forward to hearing from you!
We are particularly keen to hear from members of the Explorers Connect community so please mention Explorers Connect in your application.
