Walk Leader / Host
First and foremost, we are looking for genuine outdoor enthusiasts. Keen hill-walkers with good outdoor navigation skills who are interested in hospitality jobs in the Italian Dolomites, Austrian Alps, or the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa in Spain each summer.
At Colletts Mountain Holidays, we offer hosted walks six days a week to guests staying with us. This really is a unique summer role and it would be fair to say it might be one of the few of its kind on offer in the industry.
As a ‘Walk Organiser' in one of our five mountain destinations you would spend half of your time out on the hill with our guests, hosting ski and snowshoe days. The other half of your time is spent in the chalet alongside other team members as a general host, partaking in a varied range of tasks including domestic chores, airport transfers and most importantly, being a source of local knowledge and helping guests sort out their walking plans for the next day.
Above all else, this is a very genuine hospitality role, and if you are a people person, it can be very rewarding. You need to love spending time with the guests as much as you do spending time on the mountain.
With a very high rate of returning staff, we are also particularly keen to speak to those who interested in coming back to work a Winter season in the Italian Dolomites as a 'Ski Host / Snowshoe Leader'
Spring & Autumn Season Dates in Andalucía and Tuscany:
Mid-March to mid-April
Late September to early November
Summer Season Dates in the Italian Dolomites, Pyrenees and Picos (Spain) Hohe Tauern National Park and Zugspitze Arena (Austria)
From early May to late September
Mid-season applications also welcome for all destinations.
Hill walking and Navigation - Experience of walking in hilly or mountainous terrain, confident with map reading and general outdoor navigation skills.
Outdoor qualifications are a bonus but not essential.
Driving - Full driving license with at least 1 years’ experience.
You would need to be confident about driving a nine-seat minibus on mountain roads. Previous experience not required, but confidence and good road sense is.
Qualifications & other paperwork needed:
- For Jobs in Italy: an EU passport
- For jobs in Spain & Austria: A British National Insurance Number – if you are not a UK National you would also have to be currently working under British National Insurance Legislation for us to be able to employ you in Europe.
- For all Locations: First Aid Certificate in date
As well as a competitive weekly wage, we provide you with all meals (except for one evening meal on the main day off) accommodation, travel to and from resort, medical insurance, and an 8 to 10-day period of orientation and training at the start of the season. You would need to be available for the whole season.
