The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive individual to head up our UK Events team. The Head of Events will manage an Event Manager and be responsible for designing and executing our UK based events as well as having the opportunity to be involved in shaping the direction of future events from a strategic and operational point of view.

Core Responsibilities

  • Development and oversight of all operations on the events that fall under your remit
  • Concept development and the design of high level event plans
  • Conducting meetings with authorities and the implementation of complex logistical plans
  • Ensuring safety regulations are followed on all events and within the UK office
  • Sign-off on all Risk Assessments and Emergency Response Plans
  • Management of UK Event Manager
  • Assisting with the recruitment and training of freelance staff and leaders
  • Implementing new programmes/products and having excellent market and competitor knowledge
  • Ensuring financial and other agreed targets are met
  • Oversight and management of all kit & equipment including kit warehouse

Other (Strategy, Development)

  • Working closely with the Operations Director to set annual strategy for each Skyline owned event
  • Development and improvement of brands – researching new programmes/products/systems
  • Promoting the company’s existing events (and cross-selling wherever possible) – this could include pitches, sales meetings, networking

Personal Specification


  • To have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role where you have been responsible for all elements of an event, from concept to on the day delivery
  • Have experience of managing a team, both in the office and on the ground
  • Have strong operational experience of managing programmes/events on the ground, sometimes remotely
  • Being able to think logistically and make operational decisions on your feet
  • Have experience of managing a mass participation event and have good understanding of how these should operate
  • Have experience of planning itineraries, schedules, budgets and logistics
  • Have experience of creating safety management plans and emergency planning
  • Be confident in using Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and social media


  • To have taken part in similar events such as running, cycling or trekking events

Personal Skills and Qualities

  • Very strong administrative skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm and passion for events and the ability to manage multiple, very varying projects at once
  • A positive, can-do outlook and willingness to go the extra mile
  • Excellent communication and managerial skills
  • A flexible approach to working irregular hours and/or away from home



  • Current clean driving licence


  • Educated to Degree level
  • First Aid Trained (or willingness to gain this qualification)
  • Offsite Safety Management qualification
