We are looking for a Deputy Arctic Station Manager to work closely with the Arctic Station Manager and Field Operations Manager (FOM) to provide a safe and efficient facility at the NERC Arctic Research Station at Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard.

The Deputy Arctic Station Manager will work closely with the Arctic Station Manager and Field Operations Manager (FOM) providing a safe and efficient facility at the NERC Arctic Research Station at Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard https://www.arctic.ac.uk/uk-arctic-research-station/. They will be an integral part of BAS Operations who have overall responsibility for management of the station.
The Deputy Station Manager will help ensure safe base to field communication and be fully versed in local and wider Svalbard SAR capabilities.
To work closely with the Arctic Station Manager during the winter in the UK and March to September at the NERC Arctic Research Station.
Document operating procedures and safe working systems.
Assist planning the station field season.
Assist maintenance of station equipment including inventories and purchasing.
Provide researchers and other visitors to the station with appropriate briefings and training.
Provide safety oversight and support in the field.
Provide researchers with boat transport.
Oversee laboratory safety.
